The Ranch Program is a unique kids summer camp limited to an average of forty-five people, including all teens, working personnel and family. This smallness is one of the unique features of Elk Creek Ranch. It allows us to be very mobile and flexible in planning camp activities. On a moment's notice we can travel into Cody for a rodeo or up the valley for a stormy sunset or to a favorite swimming hole on a hot afternoon. Smallness also creates a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Each rancher (camper) is only briefly a stranger. Soon all individuals fit together in a rich mosaic of varied backgrounds, interests, and talents.
Another distinguishing feature of the ranch camp experience is the wide range of activities, such as horseback riding, backpacking, fishing, traveling to Yellowstone, and climbing the Grand Teton. Some of these camp activities are shared by all ranchers and some are optional. Our hope is that each rancher will help mold his or her summer experience by taking advantage of the varied opportunities.
"I have been wanting to let you know what a wonderful / incredible time my son had at Elk Creek Ranch last summer. When he came bounding up those escalator steps two at a time at the airport and flew into my arms, I could feel his excitement and sense of accomplishment."
